Thousands plan to attend Clinical Officers UHC Conference set for next month

The much-awaited Clinical officer’s conference on Universal Health Coverage organized by the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology is fast approaching.

Thousands of Clinical officers from Kenya and those from neighboring countries will on August 2019 hold the much-awaited conference on Universal Health Coverage at the JKUAT auditorium.

JKUAT, Kenya Clinical Officers Association, Kenya Union of clinical officers, Global Association of Clinical Officers and Physician Associates, Clinical Officers Council, top Clinical officers, scientists, politicians, and top government officials will gather in what is expected to be the biggest gathering on UHC ever in Africa.

The conference which has been convened to solely demonstrate the role of clinical officers in the implementation of UHC will be graced by the top leadership of the country.

The Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in conjunction with other stakeholders in clinical medicine, Kenya Clinical Officers Association, Kenya Union of Clinical Officers, Global Association of Clinical Officers and Physician Associates, Clinical Officers Council of Kenya and Ministry of Health are organizing the conference.

The conference will create awareness to the Counties (Governors, MCAs and Communities) in understanding who clinical officers are and their role in making communities access affordable health care services.

It also aims in operationalizing dispensaries, Health Centers and enhancing the community Health strategy to enable counties to attain sustainable UHC and also enable Counties to devolve services like emergency obstetrics, oncology, NCD management, Diagnostic radiology, etc.

The mobilization for clinical officers to attend the conference has taken shape with every clinical officer required to pay Ksh 1000 with a pay bill number 522522 and account 1259862682 being used to actualize the conference in terms of logistics and cost.

The conference is set for August next month with the highlight being the presentation of the UHC model by top clinical officers to the President.
