Delay in releasing Sh400 million bursary funds to needy students by City Hall has caused disquiet at the Nairobi county assembly.

MCAs yesterday claimed that beneficiaries, from all 85 wards, had not received the funds yet schools are set to reopen next week.

Each ward is expected to receive Sh3.5 million which will be transferred to schools' bank accounts. MCAs will then be issued with vouchers to give the beneficiaries in their wards.

Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok said: “No school has come out to say they have received money from City Hall.” “All we are being told is that there is a delay without further explanation,” said Kilimani MCA Moses Ogeto.
