Raila convenes meeting as wrangles threaten ODM

Raila Odinga

ODM party leader Raila Odinga will today chair a meeting to calm tension between party chairman John Mbadi and Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.

The Central Management Committee meeting is expected to address the supremacy battle between the two. Mr Mbadi and Mr Sifuna took conflicting positions over ODM Nairobi County Assembly leadership wrangles.

Raila is set to jet back to the country from the United Kingdom – where he  watched a friendly match between Gor Mahia and English Premier League side Everton on Tuesday.

Sifuna and ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen are against Mbadi's decision to replace Nairobi Assembly’s minority leader Elias Okumu and Minority Whip Peter Imwatok with Highrise MCA Kennedy Oyugi and Savannah’s Nicholas Okumu respectively.

Other top officials who will attend the meeting are deputy party leaders Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega Governor) and Hassan Joho (Mombasa Governor), Elections Director Junet Mohammed and Senate Minority Leader James Orengo.
