The State has opposed an application by the widow of slain Muslim cleric Aboud Rogo to be released on bail pending hearing of her appeal against a 10-year-sentence.

Haniya Sagar was sentenced to 10 years in jail after she was found guilty of failing to report a plan to attack Central Police Station on September 11, 2016.

Ms Sagar was charged with Luul Ali Tahli, Nasteho Ali Tahli and Zamzam Abdallahi, who were later freed due to lack of evidence.

She is accused of conspiring with Tasnim Yakub, Ramla Abdirahman Hussein and Maimuna Abdirahman, who were killed during an attempted terror attack on the police station.

On Friday, Assistant Prosecutor Vincent Monda told Justice Dorah Chepkwony that Sagar had not given any exceptional argument to grant her release on bond.

Mr Monda said Senior Principal Magistrate Diana Mochache had dealt with all the issues raised by the defence counsel seeking bond for his client.

Sagar's lawyer's argued that the charges she was convicted of were defective and that the magistrate relied on circumstantial evidence.
