Hundreds get tips on protecting innovations, Intellectual Property

Trade Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed

The government has launched a campaign to train Kenyan entrepreneurs on Intellectual Property to protect their innovations.

Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives and Kenya Industrial Property Institute are spearheading the training. So far, more than 300 women entrepreneurs from 20 counties have been trained on the subject and its significance to their businesses.

Trade Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed said the trainings are already transforming nascent business ideas into commercial businesses.

“While government is committed to initiate and implement appropriate policies to facilitate increased protection and utilisation of Intellectual Property, research shows entrepreneurs are least aware of its contribution to their businesses.

This is the gap we are trying to fill through this initiative,” he said during celebrations to mark the World Intellectual Property Day in Nairobi.
