The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned 12 Homa Bay MCAs to record statements over alleged loss of funds in the county assembly.

The anti-graft commission summoned the MCAs over alleged corruption and mismanagement of funds meant for facilitating activities undertaken by former MCAs.

In a letter sent to County Assembly Speaker Elizabeth Ayoo, EACC has summoned MCAs from two warring factions.

Those summoned include Central Karachuonyo MCA Julius Gaya, former Deputy Speaker Ellyphalet Osuri (Ruma Kaksingri) and Godfrey Anyango (Kabondo West). The probe is associated with deals in the last assembly.

“I have received the letter, which requires me to record a statement over the alleged misuse of funds,” said Mr Gaya.

He accused the assembly management of spending funds irregularly.

“There are allegations that we were given the funds through hand delivery yet we used to receive the money through our bank accounts,” said Gaya.

Sources said the investigation is targeting millions of shilling allegedly spent irregularly. The order came as Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma urged EACC to speed up the probe.
