Kenya’s Albert Njogu was bundled out of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) East Africa Under-18 Junior Circuit currently on at Nairobi Club.
Yesterday, Njogu ranked tenth in the tournament fell to fourth seed Abdoul Shakur Kabura of Burundi as Kenya crashed out of contention for the boys singles title.
However, the Kenyan did not go down without a fight as he stretched Kabura to the third set.
Kabura who is the highest ranked player in the East Africa Region was composed and outplayed Njogu to take the first set 6-3.
Njogu settled to take the second set with an identical score to set the stage for a decisive set.
Kabura proved stronger to win the tie-breaker 6-4 and secure his place in the last four.
Kabura faces Great Britain’s Zyaan Ahmed in a battle for a finals place.
Ahmed dismissed USA’s Nikhil Niranjan 6-3, 6-2 in another quarter-finals clash. India’s Rithvik Bollipalli faces France’s Gillian Osmont in the second semis.
