Henrikh Mkhitaryan sheds tears as he bids Man United teammates farewell

Armenian player of the year Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set to complete a move to Arsenal in a deal that will see Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez join Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.

Mkhitaryan finally agreed to join Arsenal in a deal that could see him become the highest paid player at the club.

He arrived at the Carrington training ground yesterday and trained with the first team before bidding his teammates goodbye.

According to a source that spoke to Daily Mail, ‘Micki’ was not too happy with how the deal was forced on him and wanted to stay at Man United.

“It was very tearful. Henrikh has been a very popular figure here at United. We know he isn’t too happy with the way this deal has been forced upon him. He realises he has more chance of playing at Arsenal, but he would have preferred to leave on his own terms,” revealed the source.

Jose Mourinho later said the Armenian would be left out of the matchday squad to face Burnley.

Micki was linked with Arsenal 18 months ago but chose to sign for Man United, where he had a stellar first season, scoring one of the best ‘scorpion kick’ goals ever witnessed.

This season, however, he is not the same person fans saw last year, failing to deliver on a number of occasions. He started the season well, providing five assists before slumping after the 4-1 win over Newcastle.
