A group of National Super Alliance (NASA) UK supporters have raised money in London to help victims of recent demonstrations in the country.

Abdi Ali, the NASA UK coordinator, said the fundraiser at St Mary's Church Hall, Hayes, was meant to help victims injured by the police.

"A few officials just held an impromptu meeting to raise funds to support families of victims of police brutality in Kisumu.

They need treatment, so we raised Sh134, 000," said Mr Ali. During the fundraiser attended by about 50 NASA supporters at the weekend, Abdi called for investigation on the officers who used excessive force to quell the protests.

"More fundraising meetings have been lined up. We must raise more money to help the desperate situation in NASA strongholds," he said.

The money was sent to the Kisumu disaster management team.
