Leisure Golf captain floors 120 players to bag Club Strokes play title.

Leisure Lodge Resort golf club’s captain Mitesh Kumar proved his supremacy at the par 72 course on Saturday.

Kumar beat 120 golfers to emerge the overall winner of the 2017 Club Strokes Play Competition in Mombasa.

Playing off handicap 4, Kumar won on 73 nett after posting a five over par 77 gross to lead in the one-day event sponsored by the club.

In both nines, Kumar’s victory was assured when he sank three rare birdies on the par five-ninth, the par three-12th, and the par three 16th holes.

He added eight straight level pars despite playing mixed bogey shots on the rest of the holes to lead the board.

“It’s a tough course but since I am always here, things turned out to be good for me and it’s a good win,” said Kumar.

Club mates Stephen Gichuru, playing off handicap 9, was second on the same nett after playing 82 gross, while handicap 20 Adams Randall was third on 74 nett.

At the par 72 Royal Nairobi course, Kericho’s handicap 23 Kibet Keino, on a count back score of 40 points, won the 2017 Mulembe Society tournament.

He tied on points with the home club’s handicap 8 Mandhi Sehmi, who was the  runner-up. Handicap 10 E Koech, also from Kericho, was the men winner with 37 points.

Royal’s handicap 33 Bahati Morara was the lady winner on 34 points and handicap 14 Mary Cox,  who had 32 points, was the senior winner.

Kakamega’s handicap 31 Rosemary Angote, on 30 points, was the Mulembe lady winner.
