A senator allied to the Jubilee Party has confirmed that the chopper that crashed into Lake Nakuru on Saturday morning had members of her team.

Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika affirmed that three of the five people onboard were members of her media team.

She, however, did not reveal their names.

The five were heading to Narok to accompany President Uhuru Kenyatta and other Jubilee Party leaders for a campaign rally.

The private chopper plunged into the lake shortly after takeoff from a hotel in the town.

NDMU activated a National Police Service chopper to support Nakuru County Disaster Team in the search operation.

Nakuru County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha also confirmed that KWS boats would assist in the mission.

Recovery efforts are still underway spearheaded by the National Disaster Management Unit (NDMU) and Red Cross.
