President Uhuru Kenyatta’s first cousin Beth Mugo now tops the amended list of Jubilee Senate nominees published by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission on Friday.

In the list, the head of the party secretariat Winny Guchu has been replaced by Christine Zawadi Gona of Kilifi County in position four. The previous nominee for Kilifi, Caroline Chilango has been axed to pave way for Gona.

Mugo displaced failed Nairobi Woman Representative aspirant Millicent Omanga from the first position in order of party priorities of the persons to be nominated to serve in the Senate.

Streamlining

Omanga was pushed to position three while another nominee - Alice Chepkorir moved from position three to two.

The original list which had Omanga, Mugo and Chepkorir in that order was returned to the party for streamlining.

Besides Gona, the other newcomer is Farhiya Haji from Wajir who replaced Janet Syowai Muli from list of the sixteen finalists. Haji is now in position eight while the previous position eight holder, Naomi Waqo, moves to position seven.

The previous position seven - Falhada Dekow Iman moved to position six. Those occupying positions 9 to 15 -- Caroline Daudi, Veronica Maina, Franciscar Kamuren, Beatrice Gambo, Mary Adhiambo, Miruka Kerubo and Khadija Abakiri in that order -- were not moved.

The last person in the Jubilee Senate list of nominees is a newcomer, Linet Mirihane.

The party also retained the  people with disability nominees Isaac Mwaura and Joyce Amasong as well as their youth nominees, Prengei Victor and Wambui Nyutu.

The party maintained its National Assembly list in the same order of priority as submitted earlier. David Ole Sankok tops the list representing persons with disabilities followed by business lady Halima Yussuf and Gideon Keter representing the youth. At position four for “special interest” is lawyer Jeniffer Shamalla, while Starehe MP Maina Kamanda keeps his position five, representing Nairobi farmers.

The others are Cecily Mbarire (technocrat), Bishop Jackson Koskei (preacher and person living with disability), Faith Waigwa (lawyer), Aden Noor (minority), Sandra Vall Adhiambo (workers), Samwel Mburu (business) and Agnes Kariuki (business).

Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC has also settled on its Secretary General Geoffrey Osostsi and nutritionist Prof Ruth Oniango for Parliament slots. Senator Gideon Moi’s Kanu opted to give Zipporah Kering, the current Nandi County MP a lifeline after she lost in Jubilee nominations.

Aggrieved candidates have up to tomorrow to lodge complaints with either IEBC or the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal.
