The residents of Nyayo Tea Zone village in Mahiakalo set ablaze the home of a man they accused of having affairs with married women.

They raided the man's home and doused it with petrol before setting it on fire.

The man's father asked the authorities to intervene to stop people from taking the law into their own hand.

"Business premises are being broken into and people terrorised. My son was found with a woman. The residents burned his home as they demanded that the woman come out," he said.

Joseph Isese said the man's behaviour had angered the residents.

"We have been laying a trap to catch the man but he always escapes. He stole my brother's wife. We are tired of his immoral behaviour. No one is safe here and we are worried for our children and women," Mr Isese said.

Area Assistant Chief Zacharia Ngaira said he had received complaints about the man's behaviour.

He added that the man had a robbery case pending in court.

"They burned his house, saying they were tired of his behaviour, but I urge the people of Mahiakalo not to take the law into their own hands but to inform the police instead," he said.
