15 Mungiki suspects charged over raid on city property

Fifteen suspects alleged to be members of the proscribed Mungiki sect were on Friday charged with forcible entry into a land at Upper Hill, Nairobi while armed with crude weapons. George Ngigi and Simon Njoroge with others not before court appeared before the magistrates court and denied the charges. The court heard that the accused committed the offence on January 13, 2016

They allegedly entered on the property, Land Reference Number 209/208/1/3 Nairobi with the intention to occupy it. The property belongs to Plover Haunt Ltd.

They face another count of going armed in public contrary to the law. They were slapped with a cash bail of Sh20,000 and a bond of Sh100,000 each. The hearing is on February 25.
