Isaac Ruto: Government should help me get logbook for chopper mentioned in list of shame

NAIROBI: Bomet County Governor Isaac Ruto has denied corruption allegations against him tabled in Parliament. In a statement Ruto has termed the allegations unbelievable:

"The allegations again me are farfetched and based on rumours.  If indeed I have a chopper and a house worthy Sh33 million I will ask the government to help me get a logbook for the chopper and help me recover rent from the house," Governor Ruto said.

He added that the procurement laws were duly followed in the leasing of the Red Cross ambulances.

According to the EACC dossier the Council of Governor Chair is said to have immensely accumulated wealth including 40 earth movers/tippers/graders all estimated at Sh400 million, chopper estimated at Sh300 million.

He is also said to have bought a palatial house in Ngong’ worth Sh33 million and operates numerous petrol service stations.

Other allegations against him are that the Bomet County Government hired ambulances at a monthly cost of Sh650,000 each. The ambulances were acquired from the Kenya Red Cross through single sourcing.
