Leaders praise President’s resolve on ICC

Kenya: Leaders in Elgeyo-Marakwet County have praised President Uhuru Kenyatta for honouring the International Criminal Court (ICC) summons to appear before The Hague based court this week.

The leaders said the President’s resolve shows the co-operation the country has given the court since commencement of charges.

Led by area Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Governor Alex Tolgos, Marakwet West MP William Kisang and Woman Rep Susan Chebet, the leaders said the move portrays the President as a law-abiding individual who respects the rule of law and is considerate about national unity.

“This is a clear act of humility. Despite being the Head of a sovereign State, he has agreed to appear in court to prove his innocence,” said Murkomen.

Murkomen said the President who faces charges of crimes against humanity alongside his deputy William Ruto and radio journalist Joshua arap Sang has nothing to hide and is ready to put things clear.

Speaking in St Peter's Marakwet Boys High School during a fundraiser, the leaders asked Kenyans to continue praying for the trio to triumph over the ICC tribulations.
