Yes, the cases started before Kenyatta was elected president. But now he is the President of the Republic of Kenya. It appears that the government is willing to pull all stops in a two-prong strategy of applying political and diplomatic pressure on the court. The Kenyan Parliament appears on track to pull the country out of the ICC. And this weekend in Addis Ababa a special session of the African Union is scheduled to deliberate on the Kenyan cases at the Hague court.
