It is high time police should stop treating us like children

From time and again I have been sitting back watching at how our police force is fumbling to just issue a simple press statement and wonder what criteria is used to promote these individuals.

In my interaction with a few of these officers I have actually come to realize that there are some junior officers who are fluent and can break down an occurrence step by step in a way that can you can easily visualize whatever might have happened in a crime scene.

However, they just end there, they can only talk behind the camera, on the contrary those mandated to feed us the “Truth” or the government’s view for that, matter seem to be hiding something or are not aware of what they themselves are saying.

I will quote a recent example in the Jicho Pevu expose’ the directorate of criminal investigations is an independent arm (or should be an independent arm in my view) however, in an interview the Director, Ndegwa Muhoro openly hints at the fear to summon a senior Government official for unknown reasons.

Over the past few months and years I have heard several high profile individuals from the opposition and also in the government summoned to appear before the CID well some have appeared others not.

So what still puzzles me is whether being summoned is optional or either there are those who shouldn’t be summoned even if allegations are made against them

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has been threatened several times with arrest warrants for failing to appear before the CID and EACC.

However, the same two institutions have failed to arrest or summon the Deputy President despite being named in instances that would have called for such.

This begs the question, are the departments responsible shying away from losing their jobs for summoning the DP or the summons are just for those who have no influence in government?
