Kenya National Union of Teachers remains adamant on new health scheme

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has insisted it will not allow its members to be subjected to the new medical scheme beginning next month as proposed by the Government.

Knut National Second Vice Chairperson Jacinta Ndegwa on Saturday said they were planning to come up with their own medical cover, which will ensure their members are properly covered.

“Our stand remains that we shall not accept to be subjected to the new medical cover. “If they go ahead and deduct the new rates from our members, we shall withdraw our labour,” said Ms Ndegwa.

She faulted the National Hospital Insurance Fund for having achieved little in ensuring teachers are properly covered.
