Two people killed in accident involving Range Rover and matatu at Utawala area

Nairobi, Kenya: Two people were Monday morning killed and nine others wounded in an accident involving a matatu and a Range Rover in Utawala area, Eastern by pass.

One person died on the spot while the second one succumbed at a nearby hospital, police said.

Witnesses and police say the accident happened when the Range Rover rammed onto the matatu. Those rushed to hospital had different injuries but police say they are in a stable condition. The accident happened at about 7 am and has since been cleared by police who arrived there minutes later.

Police say they are investigating the incident.

Kenya Redcross said three of those rushed to hospital were treated and discharged while six others were still admitted.

Traffic commander in charge of Nairobi Edward Mwamburi said they are investigating the accident.

“Those injured were rushed to hospital. We are investigating the accident,” said Mwamburi.
