Police recover properties stolen from education office

Taita-Taveta, Kenya: Administration Police Officers have recovered office equipment stolen from Ministry of Education in Taita-Taveta County over the weekend.

Police said burglars broke into the offices of the Taita District Education Officer on Saturday night and stole the equipment worth over Sh 200,000.

"Administration police officers on patrol at night confronted two suspected thieves but defied orders to stop. As they escaped from arrest, the suspects abandoned the equipment and fled," said Taita AP Commander R. A. Majonii.

He said they recovered computers, radios, printers and mattresses from the runway suspects.

"We have intensified day and night patrols especially at this time of the Christmas festivities. We are calling on members of the public to closely work with the police to eradicate crime in the area," said Mr Majonii.

The incident comes at a time when theft of government stores continues to be reported in the region.
