Workers discover bomb at Teita Sisal Estate factory

A bomb was found by workers reporting to duty yesterday morning at the giant Teita Sisal Estate in Taita-Taveta County in one of the farm's factories. Police and  administration officials said the silver improvised explosive device was wrapped in a gunny sack which also contained fertiliser-like substance. Mwatate Deputy County Commissioner Shufaa Mwinjuma and area OCPD Francis Mwangi said investigations were ongoing. Mwinujma, preliminary findings indicate the object is not a bomb or a grenade as claimed by other people. However, the commissioner's observation contradicted a senior police officer who said the object is a bomb after visiting the area.
