Dr. Julius Ogeto: Woman stripped naked in Kayole, Nairobi is alive

The woman who was stripped naked and physically abused by some men in Nairobi’s Kayole, is alive.

Contrary to reports on social media that the lady succumbed to her injuries, Mama Lucy Hospital Superintendent Dr Julius Ogeto confirmed that the woman was treated and discharged Monday night.

"Yes, a woman who had been sexually abused from Kayole was brought by her sister and the police. We treated her that night and discharged her. According to our records, she is alive. The rest is rumours," Dr Ogeto said.

Meanwhile, at least 90 people arrested in connection with the incident.

The woman was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital after she was roughed up and stripped naked in Kayole area over claims she was indecently dressed.

The woman was at a bus stop at Mihango area Monday evening when she was accosted by a group of young men who accused her of being indecent. Police and witnesses said this prompted a confrontation that saw her stripped naked and roughed up. The gang later escaped as police were called to the scene. The woman was taken to hospital and police say they arrested 10 suspects at the site in a swoop later on.
