Governor Evans Kidero drops John Gakuo as Nairobi County water, environment executive officer

 

NAIROBI, KENYA: Nairobi County governor Evans Kidero has sent packing the executive officer of Water and Environment John Gakuo and his Health counterpart Dr. Timothy King'ondu.

Kidero also announced reshuffling of executive officer Evans Ondieki from Roads, Transport and Public works docket to that initially held by Gakuo. The member in-charge of Information, Communication Technology Mohammed Abdullahi will take over the Roads, Transport and Public works docket.

The governor indicated that Gakuo and King'ondu resigned from their respective positions but claims were rife the two were sacked on grounds on of non-performance.

Kidero in a statement stated, "Today's announcement within my Executive Committee leadership will ensure optimisation and acceleration of service provision to Nairobians".

In the new unprecedented changes, Anne Lokidor who was the executive member for Agriculture, Fisheries and livestock development was moved to the ICT docket.

Education executive Christopher Khaemba will be the acting head of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries docket while the Public Service executive Mercy Kamau will be the acting executive for Health services.

Kidero said the new appointments for the Health and Agriculture dockets will be executed soon for the assembly to vet the officials.

The governor stated, ""As a County government our efforts have continually been frustrated by lack of funds due to huge debts inherited from the defunct City Council. I will expect that we develop innovative instruments for debt resolution and release revenue generated for implementation of projects."
