Women Premier League continues this weekend with exciting fixtures in different parts of the country.
Last season’s first runner’s up Zone A Mombasa-based Spedag FC has a tight weekend as they are expected to play two tricky matches at home.
Today, Spedag will welcome Soccer Queens at Mombasa Sports Club from 11am.
The last time the two sides met, Spedag FC picked a 2-0 win in the first leg but the return match will not be a walk in park for the Christine Nafula-coached side because the visitors, Soccer Queens have reinforced the squad with former Spedag goal poacher Millicent Mwanzi straight from Uganda’s FUFA Elite Women Premier League side Uganda Christian University.
The return of Harambee Starlets first choice custodian Vivian Akinyi will be instrumental for Soccer Queens but she will have to contend with the star-studded Spedag lead by speedy winger Esse Akida who has been on form this season scoring 14 goals from seven matches.
Other Spedag players who feature for the national team include goalkeeper Samatha Akinyi, centre backs Ann Aluoch and Teresa Ouko, left back Wendy Achieng, right back Doris Anyango, midfielders Carolyne Anyango, Jacky Ogol,Cheris Avilia and Elizabeth Ambogo.
Tomorrow, Spedag will face off the defending champions Thika Queens in a return match kicking off at 3pm at Mombasa Sports Club Grounds.
In the first leg, the champions laboured to post a 3-2 win over Spedag at Thika Stadium.
The champions will take on Mombasa Olympic today at Mbaraki Stadium.
This will be the first time the two sides will meet after Mombasa Olympic dished out a walkover in the first leg.
