CHESANG WINS STANDARD GOLF: Josephine reigns in fourth county classic leg in Kitale

Josephine Chesang’ returned a sterling score of 46 stableford points to win the fourth edition of the Standard County Golf Classic tournament at the 73 Kitale Club on Saturday.

Playing off handicap 34, she carded 18 stableford points on the outward nine and topped it up with 28 stableford points to ink her name on the inaugural Standard County Golf Classic Winners scroll at the club.

The tournament attracted over a 100 golfers with most of them finishing their rounds as early as 10:20 am on the 18-hole course.

“I am grateful to God for granting me this opportunity to win in such a great tournament. I am the Standard Classics First Born for winning in the maiden tourney.

“I hope to keep winning, hopefully, I will do it again next year, God willing,” said Chesang.

? Patrick Kae was the men’s winner, after he carded 42 (18+24) stableford points, while Martin Kiplimo on 38 (17+21) stableford points finished second. C Onyango was third on a score of 37 (18+19) stableford points.

P Kisuna was the Lady winner on a score of 39 (13+18) stableford points, with Kitale Club Lady Captain H Rutenbar finishing second on 35 (19+16) stableford points.

Karen Golf and Country Club’s Joseph Kimkung and his wife Elizabeth won in the Guest category on 28 (16+12) stableford points and 24(11+14) stableford points. Sharon Chepchumba played 59 nett to lift the Junior prize.

P Shiharsy competed a rare double after he lifted the Gross prize with 32 gross points, then won 50 golf balls.

M Kimutai and ?N Kirior were the first and second nine winners on a score of 20 stableford points.

H Rutenbar won the ladies’ Longest drive prize, as M Kimutai won the Longest Drive in the men’s category.

The Standard Group’s Chief Executive Officer Sam Shollei, his wife Gladys Boss, Non-Executive Director Shaun Zambuni and Group Finance Director Orlando Lyomu were also at the tournament.

Nominated Senator Ziporrah Kittony, Trans Nzoia Deputy Governor Stanley Tarus and Kenya National Chamber of Commerce chairman Kiprono Kittony also took part in the tournament.
