One year since he won the coveted World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) Youth Super featherweight title in Kitwe, Zambia, Francis Kimani is yet to land a challenger for the title.
All the boxer has been having are non-title bouts, the recent being Saturday's knock-out win over Tanzania's Tasha Mjuaji. And this has left him and his manager Brian Mutiga a worried lot. This is not what they expected after that memorable win over Zambia's Bazila Ngoza.
With a combination of speed and accuracy, Kimazi stopped Ngoza in the third round of the 10-round title bout at the historic Arthur Davis Stadium, which brought much joy in his boxing career.
"I am urging the Kenya Professional Boxing Commission (KPBC) to help me secure a title defence for this belt that has stayed in our house for over a year now," Kimani said.
Although things seem to be mark-timing for Kimani, he says he will not lose hope and will continue to engage in non-title fights. His recent contest was organised by Caleb Kuya of Osaga Promotions on Saturday night.
But it was smooth sailing for Kimani, who sent Tanzania's Tasha Mjuaji to the canvas in the first round.
