The A-listers took to the Red Carpet showcasing brilliant outfits from edgy to full-on glam. Among the best dressed at the awards were Taylor Swift in a white cut-out jumpsuit that accentuated her curves, Jenifer Lopez with a sheer fitted gown, Taraji P Henson with a form fitting black gown, Kylie Jenner in a neck high mini dress with a gold belt and John Legend in tailor-made suit.
Performances
One of the biggest performances of the night came from the songbird, Mariah Carey. She performed one of her old songs Vision of Love and the controversial new single Infinity. The audience cheered as Mariah hit the high notes towards the end of her performance like she used to, which left many wondering why she held back hitting the high notes on her recent performances. This just came after she recently cancelled a performance at her Vegas residency due to bronchitis.
The other big performances were from Nick Jonas with his hit single Jealous, Iggy Azalea with Britney Spears 1980s inspired single, Pretty Girls, Kanye West with All Day and Imagine Dragons paying tribute to Ben. E. King with a performance of Stand by Me.
Wiz Khalifa performed See you again his tribute song to the late Paul Walker from the Fast and Furious franchise. The Empire cast also performed their hit "You're Beautiful" entertaining the audience.
Winners
Taylor Swift was the night's biggest winner, bagging 8 trophies from 14 nominations. The singer proved that she has a large fan base after winning the top artist, top billboard 200 artist and top female artist.
Sam Smith won the top male artist and top new artist after recently undergoing surgery to repair his vocal chords. Other winners were Iggy Azalea, John Legend, and Hozier as the top rock artist and One Direction as the top group, notwithstanding the controversies surrounding them.
Moments
The awards had its fair share of awkward moments from Kanye West's performance to Chrissy Teigen the co-host tripping someone while going on stage.
The Kardashian sisters Kendall and Kylie got booed while introducing Kanye West, something both of them have gotten used to over the years.
Kanye West's performance was so censored that it was almost silent. A large percentage of his All Day performance was censored. The audience caught a glimpse of him at the very end of his performance because all the props he used on stage made him invisible.
The night also had heartfelt moments from the Imagine Dragon's tribute to Ben E. King performing his hit single Stand by Me. The audience gave them a standing ovation.
Sam Smith was not able to speak after winning because of a recent surgery he had to repair his vocal chords, but he sure had a lot of funny things to say to other stars when he wrote on cardboard pieces.
But the big moment of the night belonged to Taylor Swift after she debuted her Bad Blood single from the 1989 album. The much anticipated music video did not disappoint. It had a futuristic setting and featured many celebrities including Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, Cindy Crawford, Zendaya, Jessica Alba and many more. The single also featured Kendrick Lamar.
She also hugged and kissed Calvin Harris whom she was seated next to after winning an award. This comes after they both denied dating each other. They caused a media frenzy a while ago after they were reported to be dating but they both kept denying it.
