Mayiani tops in Karen as Warui wins Mombasa Golf Club's Chairman's Prize tourney

Former Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi tees off at the Karen Mug at Karen Golf Club on Saturday. It was sponsored by Kenya Orient Insurance.

William Mayiani posted 68 nett to emerge the winner of the Karen Monthly Mug for March at the weekend.

Mayiani edged out Clive Davis to the title in the Division A category. Davis posted 70 nett points. However, the best first nine honours went to Mark Ongawi, who carded 32 points.

Anthony Mogure was named the best second nine player after he registered 33.5 nett. The event, sponsored by Kenya Orient Insurance Limited, was staged at the Karen Golf and Country Club.

In Division B, Alan Carmichael was the winner with 71 nett ahead of Mukuria Ngamau (72 nett) as James Wainaina won the best first nine posting 33.5 points to edge out Alan Wainaina. Anthony Murage had the best gross score of 75.

In Division C, Musikari Kombo won with 70 nett edging out Ezra Rahedi who posted 71 nett.  Collins Were claimed the best first nine honours while Titus Waithaka was the best in the second nine. R Kanya was the guest winner with 75 nett ahead of Anthony Ngera who posted 78 nett.

Meanwhile, Coast Lady golfer Wambui Warui brazed the current Indian Ocean waves to post 39 stable ford points to emerge the overall winner during the Chairman’s 2014 Prize golf tournament played at the par 71 seaside Mombasa Golf course on Saturday.

This was a daylong 18 holes event that attracted 150 golfers to bid farewell to the outgoing club Chairman Peter Kimanga.

Handicap 19 Warui beat her closest challenger handicap 13 Dominic Makau on a count-back score. Taking the third slot went to handicap eight Samuel Majanga on 38 stable-ford points.

At the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country club course on Saturday, handicap 23 Joyce Wambui posted 39 stable-ford points to emerge the overall winner of the Mombasa Sikh Charity Cup golf tournament that attracted 160 golfers.

Handicap 20 F.Marques was the runner-up on a count-back score of 37 points after tying on same points with handicap 28 Farida Saeed who finished third overall.

Across to South Coast of Mombasa at the par 72 Leisure Lodge Golf Course on Saturday, handicap 11 Stephen Gachiu posted 36 points to emerge the overall winner of the Three Clubs and Putter stable-ford tournament that attracted 100 golfers.

Allan Habala, playing off handicap 10, posted 30 points to claim the runner-up slot, while taking up the third place was handicap 17 Sabine Funk who had 28 points.
