Kenyan track queens set to replay script against Ethiopia in Marrakech tonight

MARRAKECH, MOROCCO: The Kenya versus Ethiopia track rivalry plays up tonight when women’s 10,000m final gets underway at the Great Stadium of Marrakech, Morocco.

Fresh from staging a podium sweep at the just concluded Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, Kenya track queens will get down to the thrill of night battle against a strong Ethiopian line up at 10:30pm Kenyan time.

Newly-crowned Commonwealth Games 10,000m champion Joyce Chepkirui will lead the Kenyan assault alongside silver medalist Florence Kiplagat and bronze medalist Emily Chebet against perennial rivals Ethiopia.

Kiplagat and Chebet, who have beaten the Ethiopians Tirunesh Dibaba, Meselech Melkamu and Meseret Defar in world cross-country championships, are expected to replay the script tonight – after staging a historic 1-2-3 sweep at the Commonwealth Games.
