Kenya Commercial Bank retained the Top Fry Great Rift 10-Aside title as the curtain on the three-day tournament came down at Nakuru Athletic Club yesterday.

The bankers defeated stubborn Strathmore Leos 20-15 through a sudden death try scored by Kennedy Moseti who was also voted the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

Leos stretched the bankers to the final limit in a see-saw scoring match that saw Martin Sumba score three tries for the losers while the bankers replied through Maurice Mbayi and Moseti.

KCB coach Curtis Olago was a happy man having earlier promised to retain the title.

“This is a team for the future and it will cause havoc in the Kenyan rugby scene,” Olago said.

On his part, Leos coach Mitch Ocholla said poor finishing was their main undoing.

“It denied valuable chances that could have made all the difference,” he said.

In the semis, the bankers walloped Mean Machine 5-0 after earlier dispatching Western Bulls 10-7 in the quarter finals while Leos edged Homeboyz 7-5 in a closely contested semi-final match.

In the quarters, Leos beat Top Nakuru 12-10.

The defeat by Leos in the quarters forced Top Fry Nakuru to drop to the The Plate where they dismissed Western Bulls 14-0 to win the title.

Earlier, Nakuru had defeated Resolution Impala Saracens 7-0 in the semi finals as Western Bulls ran over Lunch Bar Harlequins 19-7.

Kabras Sugar RFC won the Bowl title after overcoming Mwamba RFC 10-0 in the finals.

In the quarters, Kabras defeated Comras 44-0 before dismissing Egerton University 33-0 in the semis.

Mwamba dismissed Catholic University 7-0 in the semis after earlier hitting Stormers 26-0 in the quarters.

Other quarter final matches saw Blak Blad lose 12-17 to Egerton as Catholic University clobbered Multi Media University 17-0.
