The Kenyan-born British boxer Erick Ochieng was rushed to hospital after collapsing in the ring during Saturday's welterweight Prizefighter.

Erick Ochieng was awarded the victory in his quarter-final bout, but as the results were announced he retreated to his corner looking faint.

Ochieng, 26, was taken out of the ring on a stretcher by paramedics as the huge crowd that as watching fell silent.

He said on his Facebook account ‘In all things I give Christ glory. I am fine and in good health, it was too hot in the venue for that cause I was feeling dizzy after a great performance and the paramedics were doing their job for health and safety reasons and routine. God bless, Eagle’.

Paddy  Gallagher took Ochieng's place, winning the semi-final before he was beaten on points by Johnny Coyle in the final.
