BUNGOMA: The man who hung on a helicopter carrying the body of the slain businessman Jacob Juma last Friday has finally been released on bond.

Saleh Wanjala was released by a Bungoma Court on a Sh100,000 bond or Sh30,000 cash bail, the cash bail was paid by a good Samaritan Lendrix Foundation director Joseph Waswa.

Lendrix Foundation CEO William Matere said that they were determined to help poor people in the society and Mr Wanjala was one of them.

"Despite doing the unthinkable, he is still our son and thus should be assisted, that is why we have come here to bail him out and let him feel free," said Matere.

Principal Magistrate Stephen Mogute set the hearing for 6/6/2016 where the accused person is set to appear in court.

Represented by his Lawyer Andrew Kituyi, the accused listened pensively as his counsel argued out.

"Your honour the police officers and the Prison warders infringed on the rights of the accused person, you produced an order that he be taken back to Bungoma County Referral Hospital but the officers colluded and took him to Bungoma GK Prison where he spent two nights before being produced in court, he has not received any medication since Wednesday," argued Kituyi.

The magistrate ordered Bungoma Police Station OCS Abdulahi Maalim and Bungoma GK Prison in Charge Julius Adero to appear before court on 6th June with a comprehensive report on why the accused person was taken to Prison instead of the Bungoma Hospital as indicated in the order.

Wanjala famously known as the 'Bungoma's James Bond' clung dangerously on the helicopter last Friday at Posta Ground in Bungoma town and was arraigned in court on Wednesday this week where he was charged with endangering his life and that of a pilot by hanging precariously on a helicopter.

The accused shocked the world last Friday when he hanged on the helicopter that had ferried the body of  slain Nairobi tycoon Jacob Juma to Posta Ground in Bungoma for public viewing.
