Speaker of the Senate Ekwe Ethuro has called on the Ministry of Education to consider re-introducing school ranking as it will enhance healthy competition.

Mr Ethuro (above) said ranking would give students a chance to compete fairly in their academics, which had been the norm until it was banned two years ago.

The ban on ranking of schools in national examinations was effected by the ministry to eliminate cut-throat competition among institutions.

Besides eliminating unhealthy competition, it was was also meant to end unethical practices by teachers in the rush for top positions.

Ethuro was speaking during a prize giving ceremony at Skyline Boys Secondary in Muguga, Kikuyu constituency, on Saturday.
