Teachers Service Commission refuses to back down on North Eastern teachers

Kenya: The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has said no letters of transfer will be issued at TSC headquarters to teachers who have refused to return to work in Mandera, Garissa and Wajir counties.

TSC Secretary General Gabriel Lengoiboni said some teachers had not reported back to work and had continued to camp outside the TSC headquarters expecting to be given either letters of transfer or interdiction.

"It has come to the knowledge of TSC that some individuals have been spreading misleading information that teachers who have not reported back to work will be served with letters of transfer or interdiction at the TSC headquarters. We want to clarify that no letter will be offered to any teacher at the TSC headquarters," said Lengoiboni.

He said any correspondence would be channelled through the work station of individual teachers or any other address provided by the teacher.

In a press statement, Lengoiboni clarified that disciplinary procedures were initiated at school level and communicated by the secretary, board of management or TSC county director in the case of post-primary institutions.
