EU network to reward top KCSE students

A European Union-based social organisation has launched an excellence prize for top Kenyan students from Rift Valley schools in an attempt to improve performance.

Kootab Myoot Europe (KME) is a social network that brings together professionals, students, and business and sports people living in the EU with roots from the region.

Close to Sh50,000 has so far been collected from members, according to the treasurer Halima Chepkosgei.

She urged those wishing to contribute to the kitty to do so before the closing date this weekend.

The money will be handed to the student who topped last year’s secondary school examination at Kapsabet Boys in Nandi County.

“This prize will certainly stimulate the students to work very hard to produce better results,” said KME Secretary Dr Lang’at.

The excellence prize is the brainchild of two young students in Johannes Gutenberg and Johann Wolfgang Goethe universities in Mainz and Frankfurt, respectively.
