Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia have picked Craotian tactician Sinisa "Micah" Mihic as their new head coach for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season.

Mihic takes over from Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno, who had been serving as interim coach since last year in November when Leonardo Neiva was dismissed for poor results.

Otieno will return to his assistant coach role, while Michael Nam will also remain as one of the new coach’s deputies.

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Sinisa Mihic from Croatia as the new head coach. The 48-year-old Croatian will be assisted by Zedekiah "Zico" Otieno and Michael Nam,” read a statement from Gor Mahia.

K’Ogalo are currently third in the standings with 31 points, six points behind joint leaders Tusker and Kenya Police albeit with a game in hand.

Mihic’s first assignement will be a top of the table match against leaders Tusker, a match that Gor must win to reignite their title defense push after a season of blowing hot and cold.

The defending FKF Premier League champions will be hoping the vast experience the Croatian will be bringing the club will help settle the team that has failed to maintain consistency, losing five matches, drawing four in the last 18 matches so far.

Micah as his nickname goes around has a vast experience after managerial stints at Kuwaiti club Al Salmiya SC, Croatian third-tier club NK Crikvenica, Al Shabab in Kuwait, and Al-Fahaheel SC.

Notably, Mihic has experience working in Africa, having been an assistant manager at Sudanese club Al-Merrikh in 2009 and at Libyan side Al Nasr in 2010.
