Dear married women, leave shopping to the singles

A man may earn a six-figure salary but the most surprising thing is that he might just own two shirts and a pair of black battered shoes which he wears to every important function without shame.

On the other hand, a woman may earn less than Sh10,000 but prefer to starve herself to buy a dress.

Simply put, whereas women think that life is all about weaves and high heels –- in other words, keeping up with the Joneses –- a man will be saving for a rainy day.

 Cut the crap

During the dating phase a man might not mind a woman asking for money to spend on another stupid dress and what-not, but as soon as he puts a ring on it, he expects her to cut the crap and understand that there are more important things in life than French fries and chicken wings.

In other words, once a man exchanges marriage vows, he expects his wife to open her eyes and realise that successful couples begin saving immediately they arrive from the honeymoon.

Dear friends and readers, there is nothing as pathetic as hearing a married woman asking for money for new clothes and shoes that she might never wear again, especially after the excitement of seeing it on display wears off.

Believe me, some women are such shopaholics to the point a man has to take her through a longer route to avoid passing by boutiques.

 Stick to the list

It is with such scenarios in mind that one can’t help but wish that women would take a moment to pause before purchasing frivolous items. Better still, scientist should invent a pill that women have to swallow before going shopping so that they can stick to the shopping list.

Simply put, a wise woman checks her spending so that her family doesn’t starve during lean times. A stupid woman on the other hand, creates a fuss when her man declines to buy her another ridiculous pair of heels.
