Medicus Rilaba has resolved to selling vegetables after he failed to get fees to join Kakamega High School.

The 15-year-old who scored 396 marks said his parents cannot raise the amount needed to join secondary school.

"My father is a shoemaker while my mother sells vegetables for income. They are unable to cater for my fees," said Rilaba.

He said his hopes of studying medicine at the University of Nairobi may be shuttered if he does not get a sponsor to support him access education.

He said he has opted to sell vegetables with her mother hoping that he can get funds for his studies.

"I want to study at Kakamega High School because I am sure the school will mentor me to achieve my target. I have opted to sell vegetables and help my mother to sell vegetables," he said.

His mother Kresenzia Adhiambo said; "I do not have money for his fees. I have tried getting a loan but I was unable. My attempts to get assistance from Equity bank and KCB have remained futile."
