Welcome to our party but without conditions, Amani woos rebels

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has welcomed rebel ODM politicians to join the party.

ANC Secretary General Godfrey Osotsi said the party leader is keen to “unconditionally” welcome Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba and other disgruntled ODM legislators from across the country to ANC.

“We happily welcome Hon Ababu Namwamba’s apology to our party leader over the failure to support him when he left ODM and vied for the presidency in 2013,” Osotsi said.

Namwamba quit as ODM Secretary General last week, following internal party wrangles and alleged betrayal by ODM leader Raila Odinga.

His resignation came hot on the heels of that of ODM Vice Chairman Paul Otuoma who left under similar circumstances.

In a press statement sent to newsrooms on Friday, ANC said the continued acrimonious exit from the Orange party by key leaders, especially in Western Kenya, was a confirmation that ODM has miserably failed to represent the hopes, interests and aspirations of the community.

“ODM is a party that specialises in political posturing and gerrymandering with no clear and long-term tangible agenda. Ababu and the other leaders have been frustrated and marginalised in ODM,” said Osotsi.

ANC further told Jubilee and Cord to keep off Western region and allow the people to chart their own political destiny without “undue interference through archaic divide and rule tactics, intimidation and political propaganda”.
