KISUMU: Alarm raised over tribalism at universities

Some of the main problems facing universities are tribalism, unrest and curriculum review, Education Principal Secretary Colleta Suda has said.

“We can only address the issue of youth unemployment in this country by redesigning training programmes to suit the needs of the industry,” said Prof Suda.

She also criticised those promoting tribalism and nepotism in the institutions of higher learning, adding it was detrimental to realisation of quality education. The PS said this was the main cause of constant unrest in the universities.
