Kanu official condemns police brutality on protesters

KANU's Nick Salat during the anti-IEBC protests

Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat has lashed out at police for using excessive force to disperse protestors.

Mr Salat, who joined Opposition leaders in their Monday protests said police used excessive force in dealing with the protestors.

"The police used unreasonable and brutal force. It was excessive considering that they were dealing with people who were rightfully protesting," he said.

He added: "Picketing is allowed in the law. There was no intention for those of us who took part in the protests to engage in hooliganism."

The Kanu official maintained the independence party leaders would join subsequent protests called by Opposition leaders to pile pressure on Government to disband the electoral commission.
