Knut demands enough money to hire teachers

A teachers' union has demanded that Parliament puts aside enough money in the 2016-17 budget to hire at least 20,000 tutors.

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) made the demand yesterday, saying that the assertion in the Economic Survey Report, 2016, that there are enough teachers in public schools was erroneous.

In a letter addressed to Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, Knut advised the CS not to be misled by the report, as more teachers were needed.
