Police in Nyahururu recover stolen cows

Police in Nyahururu town yesterday recovered four cows that were stolen in Shamanek.

Nyahururu District Administration Police Commander Daniel Masaba said the cows were stole at around midnight on Sunday.

He said members of the community informed police who laid an ambush around Maina village where the animals were being driven.

He said combined efforts with the public through community policing helped recover the animals.

However, those behind the crime escaped.

The District Administration Police Commander said officers are pursuing the raiders and assured residents that the criminals would soon face the law. He  said such crimes would not be tolerated.

Tyson Chesire, the owners of the cows, said the animals had been left in Shamanek forest but failed to return, prompting him to report to the police.

He said it is believed the animals could have been stolen earlier but learnt of their missing late.
