Kenya: Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery has ordered for arrest of politicians who incite Kenyans.

The CS said politicians should stop inciting Kenyans against each other as the country nears electioneering period.

"We do not want to witness incidence like what happened in 2007/2008. The government is as a result implementing interventions on peaceful and secure Kenya," said Nkaissery.

Addressing leaders from northern Kenya in Nairobi, during a seminar to discuss peace and security in Northern Kenyan counties, the CS also warned politicians, who embrace clanism of dire consequences.

He said: "We cannot watch people in parts of Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit, Tana River and Lamu fight each other because they have been incited by politicians. Any one infringing constituents’ rights for political reasons will face legal action."

In the workshop, which was attended by leaders from the seven counties, political devolution was pointed out to be among factors that threaten peace, security and development in the northern region.
