Facts about Kenya's terrain Pope Francis might not be aware of

Pope Francis, we are glad you are coming to visit Kenya. Since it is your first time, I beg your permission to get you acquainted with the terrain.

Your holiness, the land of Kenya is greatly rugged and your coming is godsend. It is agreeable this is a prayerful nation as evidenced by the so many prayers that have been hollered out in the valleys and mountains against the ICC. There is a contest of prayers here only that there is no prayer item for those who were persecuted in 2007/2008 violence. Kindly put this lowly lot top priority in your prayer when you touch base.

Holly father, this is a leaking nation! Don’t be surprised with stories of exams leak because we have got a lot more that leaks. Public money is notorious at it, although it leaks only to a few.

Be careful with your expenditure Pope Francis! Here, life is very expensive. A pen here costs more than $8 and a wheelbarrow will cost you over  $1,000. A water dispenser is equally expensive, just like another dispenser that I choose not to mention in this context for holiness sake.

I am certain you have your doctor on board because we are not sure if our medics will report to duty.

Pope Francis, the Kenyan citizenry has for long oscillated between hope and disillusionment. In 2002, with the ouster of Kanu regime, we were greatly optimistic that a sure leap into economic and democratic prosperity was in the offing. But corruption and electoral lapses have eroded this hope. I confess that we went to war with ourselves in 2007/2008 and it was gory.

Your holiness, the kitchen of corruption here is never short of business. There is always smoke billowing over it. Tongues are wagging and fingers remain crossed on the fate of the multi-billion Eurobond after the scandal at the National Youth Service.

We are under siege of corruption tribalism poverty and terrorism. Our hope is that if we can only touch the helm of your garment, may be we shall heal.
