12 Embu female MCAs threaten to strip naked if Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru is sacked

Embu, Kenya: Twelve female Embu MCAs have threatened to strip naked if embattled Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru is either forced to resign or sacked.

The MCAs claim Waiguru is a victim of bullying by male leaders in the country and has been unduly harassed and subjected to a nationwide embarrassment due to procurement matters in her ministry, which they said were not directly attributable to her.

They stated that Waiguru should not be forced out of her job by domineering male leaders and warned her oppressors of dire consequences.

Led by Nominated MCA Shunem Ngira, the Ward Reps vowed to parade themselves naked along the streets of Embu town and later mobilise over 10,000 Embu women to march to Nairobi and strip naked outside the President's office at Harambee House.

"Thereafter, we will make our way to Parliament Buildings to curse Kenyan male leadership for exposing female professionals to mob injustice whenever their careers showed signs of big success," they said.

They alleged unscrupulous male leaders plot to force female professionals to either resign or get sacked through falsified scandals.

They cited the former Deputy Central Bank Governor Jacinta Mwatela, former  deputy Chief Justice Nancy Barasa, former Judiciary Registrar Gladys Boss Shollei, former Deputy Inspector General of Police Grace Kaindi, the rejection of President Uhuru Kenyatta's nominee for the post of Secretary to the Cabinet Monica Juma, besieged current Deputy Chief Justice Kalpana Rawal as victims of male chauvinism.

The infuriated MCAs observed that female Deputy Governors across the country have also not had an easy time in office, as the clamor to elbow them out of power continues ceaselessly.

The MCAs, who spoke during a press conference outside the County Assembly Chambers, included Makima Ward Representative Penina Mutua and nominated MCAs Agatha Muthoni, Winrose Ireri, Catherine Mbura, Loise Mbuya, Nancy Murithi, Susan Wangai, Mercy Mbae, Teresia Rebiro, Rose Ndwiga and Rosemary Manunga.

They unanimously called on Waiguru to stay put and urged the President not to yield to calls to sack the Devolution CS.
