When is the perfect time to ask a mum for sex?

The helpful 'mum code' has been made for clueless partners of busy mums everywhere

Mums have a lot of jobs to juggle and romance is often the last thing on the priority list.

So if you're her other half and you're in the mood for getting romantic, it's probably best to make sure you do it at an appropriate time.

1. When did the children go to sleep?

If the kids went to bed in the last 45 minutes, you can forget about getting cosy.

Have patience. According to Emily, "as you approach the 45 minute mark, this is when you've got chance of sex."

But don't delay. Just half an hour later comes the 'danger zone' when mum is probably falling asleep. Emily's advice: "If she's falling asleep, please leave her alone. She's had a big day."

2. How clean is the house?

Is your house a mess? Don't even bother asking. Emily reckons: "When the house is spotless, you have a never-ending opportunity."

Be careful, though. If she has cleaned the house by herself then it doesn't count as she will be too tired.

f you have cleaned the house and haven't done a thorough job, this apparently also doesn't count - as it's not spotless.

3. How long ago did mum last visit the hairdresser?

This one might seem a little strange, but it's all about confidence.

According to Emily, mum is feeling at her sexiest when she's just had a haircut.

If it's been 4-6 weeks since she's had her hair done, then it's 'unfair' to approach her.

So, guys, you've got approximately one week before her ego boost starts trailing off. After three weeks, you'll probably have to wait for her next appointment.

4. How many wines has mum had?

Emily also believes there's a correlation between wine intake and willingness to have sex.

"If mum's had no wines, you don't have a lot of a chance."

Two to three wines? Perfect! But don't miss your window, as after four wines your opportunity will be slipping away.

"She'll be a hot mess and fall asleep on the couch as she finishes the bottle."

The perfect time

Taking all of that information and putting it together, Emily identifies a key point when it's acceptable to request sex from your partner if she's a mum.

When the kids have been in bed for 45-75 minutes, she's had a haircut in the last week, has had two to three glasses of wine and the house is SPOTLESS.

Simple, right?
