Sh50 million earmarked for modern market

The county will spend Sh50 million to construct a modern market at Oyugis town. Governor Cyprian Awiti said the construction of the  market will start in August, and asked traders to support the project.

Speaking at Kokal, Kasipul Sub-County during the burial of former Kenya National Union of Teachers official, Charles Owaka, Mr Awiti said the market had not been leased to a private developer as was being said by some leaders.

"The rumours are unfortunate, because, we are finalising plans to build an ultra-modern market that will replace the old structures to make our traders enjoy conducive business environment," he said.

He regretted that some people were opposed to the project that is to change the face of Oyugis.
