Tanzania's general elections set for October 25: electoral body

President Jakaya Kikwete will leave office after finishing his second five-year term in October, the constitution bars him from running for a third term.

Tanzania will hold its general elections on October 25, the country's electoral body announced on Monday.

Damian Lubuva, the chairman of the National Electoral Commission, said all political parties should nominate candidates for presidential, parliamentary and civic posts by August 21, and campaigns will start on August 22 and last till October 24.
